I took this photo in early November, and already the Holiday Shopping Tree was up at Bayshore Mall. Quick! Everyone buy crap that no one really wants and will probably get thrown away two days after Christmas! Or, here’s a better idea, grow a mustache for better prostate health. Yes, you can actually do that. November, aka Movember, is official grow-a-mustache-for-prostate-health-awareness month. Learn more here.

Everyone I know hates those fucking “Saved by Zero” ads. I just Googled “I hate saved by zero.” Go ahead. Try it. You’ll find responses like “makes viewers into victims,” “wrist-slitting” and “get Toyota’s ‘Saved by Zero’ commercial off the air before I harm myself.” The good news is the ads are supposed to end SUNDAY. At least nationally. It’s about damn time, Toyota. But for true quality entertainment, go to Tastes Like Chicken, which donated this shirt. (Text: “I like my coffee l ike my women: Sixteen years old.”) And thanks to Pegs for modeling!

If I had ever gotten up at 5:30 a.m. while in college, I might have actually seen who this shirt once belonged to.

Frankie says relax, don’t do it (duh). But did you know how controversal the song was when it was released? It was initially banned by BBC and MTV. Now, what I don’t understand is what the Family Guy evil monkey is doing on this shirt. But for fans of adult-themed charatoon characters and a sorta dirty New Wave single from 1984, this shirt is perfect for you.

I’m trying to remember how to do the NwO 4-life hand gesture. I’m channeling my inner 10th grader. It’s not working out so well.

Is this it? Or is this just “rawk”? Dammit, I can’t remember.

Oh well, this wolf looks scary. Click here for footage of the nWo guys in action — in the WWF. I must have missed that incarnation.

I bought this shirt at a rummage sale in suburban Washington D.C. They told me when I bought it that it was the theme shirt to a mission trip to South Africa. They were selling it to raise money for another mission trip to India. Selling t-shirts to save the world. Gotta admire their moxie.
And speaking of but(t)s, go to Training With Tim for tips on defeating insidious butt sweat.

My friend Graham scored some free tickets to the Brewers game from his boss. High five for high-powered attorney friends!

First we visited the Robin Yount statue (not pictured), and commemorated my Beethoven’s Fifth (cup of yogurt) T-shirt. This shirt was donated by one of the most influential people in my life, my journalism professor and friend Paul Salsini. If you’re looking for a fantastic summertime read you will NOT be disappointed by his book The Cielo, a novel of wartime Tuscany. Order it already!
Alright, let’s play some ball! Or at least take some pictures at the ballpark!

7th Inning Stretch: Beer Barrel Polka!

Yup, that's a diamond.
The Brewers ended up losing to the Rockies 8-3. And that’s fine, because I don’t really watch the game, anyway. It’s just a way to get away from thinking about grown-up stuff for awhile and enjoy the company of friends. Occasionally, you also cheer and/or boo, but that seems distantly secondary.
This post is dedicated to my grandpa, who took me and my brother to my first ever Brewers game. I think I must have been eight. I still remember it, it was against the Oakland A’s. I brought a plastic mitt I had in hopes of catching a foul ball. The Brewers lost that one, too. (Big surprise.)
My grandpa was the busiest person I’ve ever met. He couldn’t even sit still for 90 seconds, so I have no idea how he made it through 9 innings. But even though there was always more work to be done on the farm, he found time to drive us kids from the country to the Big City for our first ballgame. I can still picture him there with his beaming Cigelske smile and trademark laugh.
My grandpa died yesterday, and I will miss him a lot. I wish more than anything you could have been at the game with us today, Grandpa.
