They were recently named BEST LOCAL SALON (!) by the Shepherd Express, an honor well-deserved. Not only that, but they’re going to recycle their hair clippings to clean up oil spills. This shirt is a virtual Wikipedia page of Irish pubs in Milwaukee. From 1995, anyway. In all it lists 19 Irish Pubs in the greater Milwaukee area, from Slim McGinn’s on the south side to MacCarthy’s in the village of Saukville. Many like Jim Hegarty’s continue to thrive, while others like the Glocca Morra live on only in the whiskey-haze memory of local rugby clubs.

A brief history of this shirt: Jason, aka Littletinyfish, designed this shirt for OnMilwaukee.com. Then it became property of a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, who wore it for a time before I found it at his rummage sale. When I was browsing through his shirts, he was like “Are you Tim?” Apparently he recognized me from my Twitter profile. Then I brought the shirt to this photo shoot, where Jason, aka Littletinyfish, recognized it as the shirt he once designed for OnMilwaukee.com. So he modeled it. And then put some girls wearing MKE shirts in headlocks. True story!
