Cameras

The iPad comes with 1.2 megapixels FaceTime camera along with 8 megapixels rear lens. On the other hand, iPad Air equipped with 7 megapixels selfie camera and 12 megapixels rear camera. It has some excellent features like smart HDR, autofocus, wider color capture, and others.

Storage, RAM, Processor

These things are the most interesting parts of both the iPad and iPad Air. The iPad Air is equipped with 256GB and 64GB of storage. The manufacturer doesn’t share exact RAM specification or battery, although it guarantees that the iPadAir can last longer than the regular iPad. This is available in cellular variants and Wi-Fi as well as those with eSIM which is used for worldwide travel.

On the other hand, the iPad is equipped with 128GB and 32GB of storage. The manufacturer doesn’t disclose the capacity of the battery or RAN specifications. iPad can stay all day long without a single charge. Similar to the Air version, it’s also equipped with built-in eSIM, cellular models, and also Wi-Fi.

A14 Bionic Chip is inserted inside the iPad Air. This 5-nanometer offers a 40% bump in performance over the previous processor, A12. A 4-core GPU is also used for 30% faster of graphic performance.

Display and design

When it comes to iPad design, the regular iPad receives not many tweaks. On the other hand, the design of the iPad Air looks so much better than the basic iPad. It features a square unibody design that is made from aluminum. The design is available in silver, rose gold, green, gray, and blue. The sensor of the Touch ID has been included in the power button.

The USB-C now replaces the Lightning port. It offers a universal charging option as well as supporting both Magic Keyboard and the 2nd generation of Apple Pencil. A magnetic port is included in Apple Pencil 2 while Magic Keyboard is with a rear connector.

Besides, the display of the iPad Air is larger than the iPad with a 10.9 inch laminated IPS LCD. Slimmer bezels remove the noticeable footprints after you touching it. Otherwise, the iPad doesn’t receive any drastic improvements. New color options are the newest feature to include. Similar to its predecessor, the tablet comes with a10.2-inch screen. Instead of including USB-C, iPad still uses a Lightning connector. The good news is that this feature also supports Apple’s Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil apps.

With some upgraded designs, Apple’s Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil compatibility, and a larger display make the iPad Air is so much better than the iPad particularly in a laptop replacement. However, if you are happy with a basic tablet, the iPad is also worth buying.
