Plot of the Waiting Movie
The entire movie is set in a single day at the “Shenaniganz” franchise restaurant. After four years of employment, Dean finds out via his mother that a friend of his has recently graduated from college and landed a high-paying position in electrical engineering.
Dean’s coworker Monty guides Mitch, a new employee, through his training, introducing him to everyone in the restaurant and kitchen. Monty further shows Mitch the “Penis Showing Game,” in which male employees purposely reveal their genitalia to unsuspecting coworkers. He also tells him how the staff deals with unpleasant and entitled customers. In one scene, when food is returned, the kitchen staff promptly contaminates it with saliva, dandruff, and other nasty pieces.
Dan offers Dean the position of assistant manager ahead of Calvin. After a disagreement with a client who gave Dean a modest tip, Dan informs Dean that he expects a response by the end of the day.
Dean is left alone for the last hour of work as the day comes to an end. When two more visitors show up, Dean recognizes one of them right away as Chet, his successful classmate. At first, irritated, Dean is made to feel small by Chet when he gives Dean $100 in exchange for his $30 lunch, leaving a $70 tip. Chet restates Dean’s response to the previous customer, “You look like you need it more than me.” When Dan calls Dean into his office to discuss the promotion, he declines it and decides to go back to college in hopes of a better future.
As the shift finishes, the staff attends a party at Monty and Dean’s house. There, Monty refuses to have sex with Natasha because she is not yet of legal age, but promises to do so the following week after her birthday. Mitch, who had been unable to speak all day owing to Monty’s interruptions, eventually screams against the entire crew and quits. Mitch displays his genitals in the form of “The Goat” before leaving, which head chef Raddimus had previously stated would earn him instant god status. Monty declares his commitment to Mitch after taking over for Dean in his absence.
