We must declare from the on set that, in some states, using fake urine in order to pass a drug test is actually a lawful offence and may possibly result in a range of serious consequences, including incarceration in some certain states.
The drug testing process
In the United States of America the drug testing of employees is a common practice by private companies. They do this in order to increase safety within the work place and to stop injuries from happening to members of their staff. Another reason why drug tests are popular with so many companies across America is because being intoxicated at work can lead to less productivity, and of course they want to stamp this out as it could potentially affect the bottom line of the business.
Even to this day though there are still plenty of companies across the country that do not perform drug tests. According to the latest figures from the American Management Association, around 39 % of organizations do not currently perform any form of drug tests in the work place.
Ways to pass a drug test
With drug tests being so prevalent within the work place across America, those individuals who do use illegal substances recreationally have been forced to come up with a number of innovative ways to pass them so that they can keep their job. Some of the most common practices include substitution, dilution, and adulteration.
- Substitution – In addition to using other people’s urine instead of their own, recreational drug users who want to pass a test also use fake urine that they have purchased online. The problem with using the urine of other people is that you can never be 100 % sure what they have in their system, so you run the risk of showing up with a dodgy result. With synthetic urine, however, you know that the substance is completely clean and free from any unwanted chemicals.
- Dilution – By drinking a large amount of water or other fluids prior to being tested, the ratio of illegal substance to urine can be dramatically reduced. Unfortunately, however, doing this does not always guarantee a negative result to a drug test.
- Adulteration – Adding chemicals that are easy to get hold of, such as vinegar or soap, to the urine sample that you give can affect the drug testing kit by interfering with the quality of the results.
What drugs show up in tests
Because every drug and even every batch is so different from the next, it can be difficult to make a sound estimation on how long any certain type of illegal substance will stay in your system for. This also very much depends on the body type and circumstances of the individual who has taken the illegal drugs and if they have a long term history of using such substances.
Getting clean from cocaine can be a fairly fast process, however, getting clean from cannabis takes a bit more time and can range from anywhere between 7 – 30 days.
