Right now, the lashing world is filled with discussion about pre-made fans. This growing popularity is because they eliminate the stress of false lashes and mascara. Wearing them gives a naturally beautiful look that can last weeks. There are different types of lash extensions like the traditional, individual lash type which is being rapidly replaced by pre made fans collections.
The application process of pre-made lashes is like an art, requiring weight, diameter and length to execute correctly. Putting together a symmetrical fan can be a challenge that requires a lot of skill and practice. Provided the technician has completed an excellent course for eyelash extensions, you can expect fantastic results. In this article, we let you in how they are made and on all the things you need to consider before eyelash application.
How are Pre-Made Fan Lashes Made?
The creation process of this type of lashes is similar to handmade volume lashes; the difference here is that a machine does it. Usually, a row of PBT threads are arranged on a surface then their bases are attached with some adhesive or heat. After adhesion, threads are curled with heat.
Once the curling process is over, lash makers transfer some thread to the strip and open the fans up. The fans are then bonded to strips of adhesives in a trap with other pre-made fans and shipped out.
1. Why Choose Pre-Made Fans?
The number one advantage of pre-made fan eyelashes is the short application time. Since the lashes are already together, artists no longer have to endure the painstaking process of joining them or applying one lash at a time to a client’s lash line.
Clients prefer a shorter appointment since it spares them the hassle of dedicating a whole segment of their day to it. Though the application time is much faster, the results are still fantastic. Artists also benefit from this because they can fit more clients into their working hours, leading to more revenue.
Some lash stylists cut back on appointment times by making fans themselves before a client arrives. The problem is that they have to do this on their off-hours. Another issue is that it is difficult to predict the shape of a client’s eye or the style she would prefer unless the person is a regular. An artist may then make the wrong fans and need to remake them during an appointment.
2. Kinds of Pre-Made fans
There are two types of pre-made fans: heat-bonded and glue-bonded. A heat-bonded fan is sealed together using only heat while a glue-bonded fan needs adhesive. Most eyelash artists think that the glue-bonded variant is not ideal for client use, which is true.
Though the quality of the lashes themselves may not harm the client’s eyes, the glue holding the natural lashes together adds extra weight. The lash technician still needs to add adhesive to the lashes during the application, resulting in a bumpy appearance.
Heat-bonded fans are a safer alternative since they can be applied without adhesive. They use a unique heating method to maintain the lash’s shape. They give artists of varying experience and skill the opportunity to add drama, curl, depth and length to natural eyelashes.
3. Cost
Fantastic products like pre made lash extensions, of course, come at a price. They are more expensive than other types of extensions, and so artists may charge more for their application. They are not easy to apply, and artists who have this skill typically have taken a course for eyelash extension.
Usually, technicians cannot cater to all eye shapes and styles with a stock supply. Instead, they need to buy various lengths and techniques to have the right fans for clients. This is because pre-made fan lashes lack the flexibility required to adapt to the textures of natural lashes.
4. How to Choose the Best Pre Made Lash Fans
The first step is determining the style you want to create using these extensions. Do you want a more defined look or fluffy lashes? There are many options to help you with your desired look. You need short stem lashes with scantier extensions such as Volume 2D or 3D for a natural-looking volume.
Fluffy volume style would need short stem extensions with wider widths like Volume 4D, 5D and 6D. For a dramatic mega volume lash style, use short stem fans with super fine thickness lashes like 10D and 20D. Long stem fans like Glam 5d lash, and W lash can create a defined, eyeliner look while Level 5D lash offers a wispy, feather-light look.
5. The Right Tools
Although technicians apply pre-made lashes as fast as traditional lashes, they need more application adjustments and techniques. Since they are fanned out, pick up tweezers with straight tips are not the best. It would help if you instead went for a boot or angled tip.
To isolate the lashes, the recommended tweezers should be i-shaped like the SS-SA and SS-JP types. These tweezers are long, thin and light, so they cause minimal tension and fatigue in hands. For a client with a prominent forehead or deep-set eyes, L- or S-shaped tweezers like 7-SA can isolate lashes better.
