NEET 2022 is closer than ever. It is high time for all aspirants to begin their preparations. While preparing for the entire syllabus is ideal, it is safe to say some topics bear more importance than others. This is purely based on the weightage of marks they carry in the NEET question paper pattern.
Let us take a look at the topics, and their marks’ distribution.
NEET Physics Syllabus | ||

Electrostatics | 4 | 16 |
The above table gives a thorough breakdown of all of the Chapters and Topics from Physics. As you can see, while Class XII has a lesser number of topics, but, it bears the same importance as Class XI. While, from Class XI there is a total of 92 obtainable marks, from Class XII there are 88, making a total of 180 obtainable marks.
The total in the table may not add up to the 180 mark because some of the questions are optional and the aspirants are allowed to choose. Let us now take a look at some of the important topics that one should study in Physics:
1. Mechanics:
Going by the total marks allocated alone, this topic has a lot of importance. At least 11 questions are expected to come from this particular topic alone. This makes up for close to 44 marks, which is 25% of the total marks allotted to Physics in the paper. Hence, it is easy to assume that Mechanics is one of the more important topics in Physics.
2. Importance of Modern Physics:
The modern physics section in the Class XII syllabus is often skipped by most aspirants. However, as we can see from the above table it accounts for about 20 marks alone. This is about 12% of the total marks in the Physics section. Thus, in the broader prospect, aspirants need to take up Modern Physics in their preparation.
3. Class XII syllabus:
As we have already mentioned, the Class XII and the Class XI syllabi are equally important. It is worth adding that the combined section of Electrostatics, Magnetism, Magnetic Induction and Current Electricity is worth 56 marks, a whopping 30% of the total marks. Thus, it is advised that aspirants give attention to this section and hence, make an extra effort towards this section.
It is important to note that these are suggestions. One should not limit to only these topics while preparing. It is always recommended to be thorough with the entire syllabus. These suggestions are based on the weightage they bear in the question paper. We have taken these suggestions from Top websites and teachers who provide NEET Coaching in Bangalore. However, it is always best practice to ask your teachers, as they will always be able to give the best advice.
