A complete kitchen is the one that you do not need to carry out any activity apart from checking the food and serving them; other cooking activities such as grinding, slicing, heating, and steaming of food items should be done with your kitchen equipment. To update the kitchen equipment you currently have, then you should add a food processor to your list.

In case you are wondering what a food processor is, I will explain it in this article. However, your utmost concern right now should be how to get one because you surely do need it.

Now, let delve into what food processors are properly.

A food processor is a piece of kitchen equipment that is used to perform recurring tasks during the preparation of food. This machine is used to blend, chop, dice, and slice mostly solid food items and fruits. It can be likened to a blender but differs from a blender since it usually produces solid particles, unlike the liquid end products a blender produces because no water is added to it to make it blend properly.

The types of blades a food processor have will determine the kinds of functions it can perform. As stated earlier, some food processors can be used to process food items such as meats, fruits like pineapple and berries, biscuits, and even chocolates. The fact that these machines can also support a baking attachment also necessitates the reason you should have one in your kitchen.

Like a blender, it has a motor that rotates the vertical shaft where the blades are attached. A transparent plastic container fits around the shaft to collect the processed food items. In most food processors, the cutting blades are attached to the shaft towards the end of the bowl while the shredding or slicing discs are attached near the top of the bowl.

The bowl has a lid with an opening on top known as the “feed tube”. The feed tube is the part where more ingredients are being passed into the bowl during food processing. Another component is known as “pusher” is also included close to the feed tube to prevent an operator from getting injured while trying to add more food into the bowl especially when shredding or slicing. Instead of you forcing the food items down, the pusher help exert more force on the items and slide them down automatically.

The motor will also detect an inappropriate installation of the bowl or if the bowl is not well-tightened to the base of the motor. Hence, the motor will not move to ensure the safety of the user and the wastage of food.

With all that has been mentioned, you can easily conclude that a food processor is a vital equipment that should be found in every standard kitchen. You might be thinking that a blender is enough but when you own a food processor then you will change that belief.
