Causes of hair loss
The first and foremost reason for hair loss in many men is due to genetics and the sex hormone called DHT.
It is said that almost 50% of men will notice baldness in their 40s and the rest in their 60s. The degree of hair loss and the age of baldness also depends on your family history and genetics. If you have quite a lot of bald heads in your family, then the probability of you turning to be bald is high.
Hair loss is just another genetic factor. Just like how your eyes, body type, and skin color resembles your family. Hair loss also resembles your family.
Genetics indeed plays a major deciding factor for your baldness. Other secondary factors that may contribute to the thinning of your hair are age, stress, diet, lifestyle, pollution, etc.
As people age, the hair follicles start to weaken and shrink thereby slowing down the hair growth cycle. That is why, as we age we see a good amount of reduction in the thickness of our hair.
A poor diet without any essential nutrients and vitamins can lead to hair loss. In the same way, stressing too much and polluting your hair with toxic chemicals will cause hair damage and loss.
Taking care of your hair properly will somehow reduce hair fall but unfortunately, there are no natural remedies to reverse male pattern balding permanently. Only with a concentrated hair fall treatment for men, it is possible to regrow your lost hair.
Before you start worrying about treating your baldness consider this best alternative solution called the “triple crown” solution for regrowing your hair. This method has worked out for a few men. So there is no guarantee that it will work out for you too. But, it is worth giving a shot before taking any hair fall treatment for men.
Try the topical drug Rogaine
Rogaine also known as Minoxidil was first established to treat high blood pressure. People who applied this drug showed a side effect of extreme hair growth. Since then, this topical drug is used to treat hair loss.
Rogaine widens the blood vessels and allows more nutrients and oxygen to the hair follicle making it healthy. If you are suffering from excessive hair loss then it is highly recommended to use rogaine consistently.
Rogaine also comes in the form of foam making it even more flexible to use. You can use this foam along with hair styling products like hair gel and apply it on your scalp.
Usually, you can use the foam twice a day. But remember to leave a gap of 8 hours between the doses.
Consume Finasteride
Finasteride is an oral medication that alters the hormones. This drug prevents the conversion of testosterone into DHT. As known, sensitivity to the DHT sex hormone is something that weakness the hair follicles and affects the hair growth cycle. Finasteride halts or prevents almost 70% of DHT. This increases the regrowth and decreases hair fall.
Finasteride is not an over-the-counter drug. You need a prescription from a doctor or dermatologist to buy it. So make sure to visit a doctor to start consuming this drug.
Use a ketoconazole shampoo
Ketoconazole also popularly known as Nizoral is an antifungal shampoo. Sometimes hair loss might also be a result of fungal infection. To combat this you will need to use antifungal medication.
Since Nizoral is in the form of shampoo, it is extremely convenient to use.
You have to remember that ketoconazole comes in 2 degrees of concentration.
- 1 percent
- 2 percent
Apparently, a 2 percent degree is the strongest. You can buy the first-degree shampoo over-the-counter whereas in the case of the second one you will require a prescription.
You might face some side effects like itching when you start to use this shampoo. If the effects persist you have to consult your doctor.
You can use the combination of the above three drugs ( make sure to consult with a trichologist or a dermatologist before using the combination) to reduce the hair fall and regrow your hair.
Other alternatives
If drugs don’t suit you or if it did not work for you don’t worry. There are other alternatives for hair fall treatment in men
- You can use a concealer to seal your bald spots. But this is a messy job and does not seem natural most of the time.
- You can also try a scalp micro pigmentation or hair tattoo procedure. It is a process of tattooing pigment into your scalp.
If nothing is working for you, then the serious option you have to consider is the hair transplant one. You have to consult a good trichologist who can guide you through the process and relish the outcome expected.
