Find Out The Penalties Of A DUI In The State Of Florida
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterShare On WhatsappEmail Share

If you drive in Florida, you should know that there are severe consequences of DUI’s in Florida. There are stringent laws in Florida that are more strict than any other area of the country. This isn’t something you should take lightly, and in fact, you should note that if you get convicted in the state of Florida, your record cannot be wiped or sealed at all. It will stay on your record for a whopping 75 years. This, however, is just the beginning of what could happen.

Your First Conviction Isn’t As Bad

While this may seem obvious, the first time is what most people worry about the most. Because of this, you should know that there will be a minimum fine of five hundred dollars and two thousand if you have to pay a higher amount. You must also serve fifty hours, and you may avoid being imprisoned. This is up to the judge, however. You may also have to go to a treatment center.

The Second DUI In Florida

The second DUI in Florida will not go so well. If it is within five years of the previous DUI, you’ll find that you will have ten days in jail. You will also have a five-year suspended license and impound your vehicle for a month. In addition, you’ll have to pay a fine or go to jail for longer than ten days if the judge makes the decision that you need to. That fine almost doubles if you have a juvenile passenger. This is because that issue is considered a far bigger offense.

The Third Time Is Never Lenient

If you have another DUI in Florida and this is within ten years of the previous offense, it’s a felony. You will receive a month or up to five years in prison with your car being impounded for three months. In addition, you’ll also get your license suspended for ten years and pay a thousand dollars if you have a juvenile in the car with you. That’s still not the end of it, however. You will be forced to enroll in an addiction course and have probation.

It should be noted that anything after this will be considered a felony, and bodily injury or death or a passenger is a felony as well. It is highly recommended that you get legal representation because it can be beneficial and help the judge understand your particular situation.

The Laws In Florida Are Among The Strictest

The laws regarding a DUI in Florida are the strictest in the country, and as a result, if you experience an issue, you should hire legal representation. Remember that the first conviction is a serious matter, but as you can tell, the consequences are far less than the other options. By the third conviction, you’ll be serving serious time in prison; if you’re not, you’ll have to avoid driving for a decade. The best thing to do is never put yourself in these situations.
