Many of us are planning our travels when restrictions are lifted. After a year of travel plans being put on hold, there is now the suggestion of vaccination passports being added to the mix, meaning there are signs that trips abroad could happen again in the not too distant future.
So, it’s time to think ahead to the places we’ll be jetting off to when we can. If you’ve been thinking about ticking off your travel bucket list, for instance, going to Ireland to visit the fantastic historical sites in Dublin, you’re not alone. ABTA predicts that wanderlust will be the driving force for holidaymakers in 2021 and that we’ll all be booking big adventures.
Will this be you? If so, here are some ideas that you might want to add to the destination list.
Northern Lights, Iceland
Let’s start with a totally cool trip. Be sure to pack your women’s thermals and woolly socks when you head to the Arctic Circle to capture the aurora borealis, one of the most captivating natural events.
The biggest light show on earth is a truly magical event that can be seen in Canada, Greenland, Finland, and even the northernmost corners of Scotland. But Iceland is a magical country that offers the Northern Lights and so much more, from geysers to the beautiful Blue Lagoon spa. If you’re not craving a sun-soaked beach or traveling through a warm country, visiting Iceland could be the perfect getaway. It is best to get a car rental in Iceland when you are touring to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
Pyramids, Egypt
There are many pyramids in Egypt. The last count placed the number at either 118 or 138, but the most famous is probably the Great Pyramids of Giza. These were royal tombs built for three pharaohs. They are the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World and are the only ones still standing, making them some of the most spectacular man-made structures in history.
If you’ve always wanted to see these magnificent creations up close, they are a must for the bucket list.
Petra, Jordan
Petra in Jordan, like the pyramids of Egypt, is an ancient destination that has become a much-loved place. Named the must-visit place to visit in Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel List, which ranks 500 travel experiences across the world, this is a place that has an enthralling past.
Today, it is one of the most-visited tourist attractions in Jordan; has featured in famous films such as Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade; and has also been one of the New Seven Wonders of the World since in 2007. However, for centuries the ‘Pink City’ was lost, having been deserted after a large earthquake in the 4th century. It was rediscovered by a Swiss explorer in the early 19th century.
Transylvania, Romania
Add this to the list and se what this stunning city has to offer.
So, where will you head to when restrictions are lifted? Will you head to the chilly north or go in search of Egypt’s past?
