Classification of Plywood should only be on the basis of grade

BASED ON GRADE

Water Resistant Plywood or MR Ply

This type of plywood is called water resistant or MR grade or commercial plywood and is known for its water-resistant qualities. However, these plywood sheets online are not waterproof and while they can withstand moisture, they cannot withstand a lot of water. Therefore, you need to be careful you do not expose it to water. Commercial ply can be used for more interior work like TV units, cabinets, wardrobes, sofas, and more and is relatively cheaper and durable as well.

BWR Ply

Boiling water resistant plywood has a higher resistance to water than MR plywood but is still not waterproof in nature. It is a decent option for tropical areas that experience high humidity levels and is costlier than MR plywood. However, it is always preferred to go for a BWP Ply over BWR Ply.

BWP Ply

Boiling waterproof plywood is regarded as the best quality plywood because it has the highest resistance to water. This plywood is also highly resistant to shrinking, splitting or swelling and lasts a long time due to its ability to maintain its original shape. It is the costliest out of the three types of plywood but also has the maximum number of benefits. Its preferred for areas like the kitchen and the bathroom, though it can be used in any area of the house.

Uses of plywood

Plywood is quite popular and is used in home building as well as a number of interiors, being cost-effective and durable it provides good linear strength and can be used with veneers for inexpensive furniture. Plywood is long-lasting and doesn’t need to be maintained and cleaned on a daily basis, it can resist moisture, heat and its sheer strength and toughness make an ideal choice for both base and wall cabinets in kitchens, utility rooms, garages, and more.

To Summarize

Plywood manufacturers offer these different types of plywood as they are popular, long-lasting, and durable and can be used right from buildings to home installations and has become quite popular to invest in for the long run. When looking for plywood, research a bit on the type of wood that you need for your home or you can even contact your local store or supplier for advice on the type of plywood to use.
