The world of storytelling and imagination is indeed a beautiful one. The art of storytelling has been famous for a long time, even several years ago. It was considered a significant art form, as kings and queens would get their best storytellers and entertain the gathering. This has now been enhanced by adding illustrations in storybooks, earlier for children but now even adults. For instance, Megan Hess books are a great example that showcases the beautiful blend of carefully curated illustrations and a good mix of texts.

Megan Hess books are well-known worldwide, as they target the audience mostly instead in the world of fashion, which comprises people in their teenage years to older men and women. Books like these with illustrations promoting fashion and the freedom to be who they are unapologetically is something this generation desperately needs.

How illustrated books changed the game of literature:

  • Improving language skills:  Let it be a children’s book or a book for the older crowd. It is always good for them to include illustrations as a part of good storytelling. In the case of children’s books, there might be some new words that an adult can introduce to them, and they can make them understand it better by associating it with the illustration provided. Children better understand concepts, and hence their vocabulary expands, which is a win-win situation.
  • Visually engaging: It is shown in research conducted on the engagement people have with a visual book compared to a regular book with just text. It was seen that people found the books with illustrations far more engaging as compared to the counterpart. It is an excellent way for younger readers to understand certain parts of a story when they see the visual aid provided in the book, which gives them a good experience, and in the future, they might slowly transition into a full-fledged novel.
  • Motivation to think visually: The illustrations in the book can help the younger kids visually understand the story if they have difficulty reading and if the words are a little difficult to understand. It also helps these kids grow up into creative adults with an improved visual thinking capacity. They grow up to become creative adults who start creating meaningful art for the world to see. For instance, the Megan Hess books are a clear example of what good storytelling can inspire a person.
  • It is more fun: Anybody and everybody loves to have something beautiful to see, something colourful and engaging. These illustrated storybooks are nothing but fun, let it be for kids or adults; these books are far more fun to read than classic novels with just text in them. If an individual is an avid reader, they cannot pass their day without reading at least one chapter of a book; even for them, sometimes a change is fun. They would love to invest in a beautiful, illustrated storybook and breeze through it once in a while. It might refresh their memory of being a child, take them back to the good old days.

Conclusion:

The conclusion that can be derived from this article is that illustrated books are for all age groups. It does not matter if the person is a teenager, a child, or much older. Reading is an art, and reading with art in it is altogether a much more delightful treat! Do certainly think about investing in a good, illustrated book, and guaranteed, those purchases won’t stop.
