1. The Handmaid’s Tale
Seasons: 3
The Handmaid’s Tale is a Hulu original based off of the novel written by author Margaret Atwood. The show takes place in Giliad, a totalitarian society that once used to be part of the United States that forces fertile women into child bearing slavery. These women are referred to as handmaids whom get placed in homes of the ruling elite where they are forced into ritualistic rape to repopulate the country to solve worldwide infertility.
The frightening story is not for the lighthearted and we warn can be a trigger to those who have been sexually assaulted so please watch safely. The show has gone on for three seasons and there will be a fourth. There’s no official release date for the fourth season due to the Coronavirus.
2. Harlots
Seasons: 3
This surprisingly catchy, but not quite a hit is an interesting choice worthy of our list. Harlots is set back in 18th century London where women have two choices; marriage or sex work. The show focuses on two city brothels run by savvy business women who are about to lose it all from those who think they have moral superiority over their lives and city police who are happy to intervene.
Unfortunately for fans, Hulu cancelled the show after three seasons without closure to the storyline or a reason why it’s been cancelled.
3. Little Fires Everywhere
Seasons: 1
Little Fires Everywhere is a whirlwind of events that leads two mother’s lives intertwined together by one secret. From secrets, to a massive house fire and secrets, the show will have you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire mini-series.
This show is actually listed as a mini-series so unfortunately for fans it’s highly unlikely there will ever be additional seasons despite how popular the show is. Since the show follows so closely to the book there’s nothing else for season two that can divulge into Hulu plans on going past the author’s story.
4. Shrill
Seasons: 2
Shrill stars a young journalist who is fed up with the way things are in her life, so she changes it! She quits her job, ditches her terrible boyfriends and learns that she’s as good and as awesome as anyone else the way she is. The show shines a light on her personal journey to become unapologetically herself without having to lose weight or be someone she’s not.

Fans will be happy to learn that Shrill has been renewed for a third season and is due to be released very soon.
5. The Mindy Project
Seasons: 6
The Mindy Project starring Mindy Kaling as obstetrician and gynecologist Dr. Mindy Lahiri showcases her life working in a small medical office located in New York City. The show follows her journey to make her personal life just as successful and fulfilling as her professional life is.
Fans will be sad to hear that The Mindy Project won’t be back for a seventh season now that the show has reached its conclusion.
