Who is James O Welch?
He was born in Hertford, North Carolina. He completed his education from the University of North Carolina. After completing his education, he founded his Cambridge Candy company in 1927. His brother’s name is Robert W Welch Jr. and he was also his partner in this company. His brother retired from the confectionery business in 1956 and after 2 years he founded the John Birch Society.
The candies brand was acquired by Nabisco in 1963. But after sometime Nabisco sold the brand to Warner Lambert company in 1988. Again, Warner sold the brand to Tootsie Roll in 1993.
